Same operator, same gate and the same private cabin as the 5 Island flight, but one hour instead of ninety minutes. The stop list runs clockwise from Kahului: Waihee, Nakalele Blowhole, Honolua Bay, Kapalua, Ka'anapali and Black Rock, Lahaina and Olowalu, then Molokini Crater, Kahoolawe, Makena, La Perouse Bay and the lava fields, and home past Wailea and Kihei.

The listing promises an opportunity to take the yoke, and guests confirm it: one wrote that her husband flew the plane for the first time in over 30 years. Like the Haleakala flight, it lists the fuel surcharge as included, so the from-price is closer to what you pay.

Mind the name. The Viator URL says Molokai, but Molokai is not on the stop list. If the north shore cliffs are why you're flying, book the Maverick helicopter, which flies Molokai by name. Two recent reviews also call the aircraft old and worn; the pilots, though, get praise in nearly every review.

1. Your booked timePark at Maui Plane Rides

   GPS to "Maui Plane Rides" or Eena Street, past the control tower, first left. The listing gives about 10 minutes on the ground at the start.

2. First 20 minNorth and west

   Kahului Harbor, Waihee, Nakalele Blowhole and Honolua Bay, then down the resort coast past Kapalua and Ka'anapali.

3. MiddleLahaina to Molokini

   Lahaina and Olowalu, then out over the channel to Molokini Crater and Kahoolawe.

4. Last stretchSouth shore and home

   Makena, La Perouse Bay, the lava fields, Wailea and Kihei before the landing at Kahului.
